Fact: (well it should be a fact) It is a rare occurence that a person will actually have a college degree that applies directly to what they do for a living.
So you may as well get a degree in what you love, and not what you think you need to know to work. |

I want to punch everyone in the face who told young naive me a few years ago that getting a college degree will help my job prospects in the future. Nope, it sure didn't, and now the student loan place is blowing up my phone looking for their money that I cannot afford to pay back. Yep, thanks for that, everyone. I wish someone would have told me that places don't want people with degrees, they want people with experience. I could have stayed at my high school job, worked my way up to manager, and could be making twice what I do now. |

"...either I stay in my current position- which pays overtime, or get out of the office politics with a different position- lose overtime pay- but still work overtime..." it doesn't matter where you go, there will always be office politics of some sort.
i guess the question would be: do you think you'd be happier leaving and not being paid ot? |

When you lie awake half the night, then the fire alarm in your building goes off while you still have wet hair and only half your face made up, and you and your neighbours have to huddle in the parking lot at -21 C listening to your hair freeze (seriously, you can HEAR it) until the firemen confirm its a false alarm, then your truck won't start because someone bent the plug prongs in your block heater cord, and you kill the battery trying to start the truck anyway, and then the tow truck will arrive sometime between 1 and 6 pm ........ its a clear sign from fate or whatever power may exist in the universe to take the day off work and start over tomorrow. So I did. |
